Supportive Learning Program
As many schools are not able to provide full-time in-person classes for the 20/21 school year, the Supportive Learning program provides supervised remote learning assistance for school aged children. Each child must be registered in school and have opted for full-time virtual or hybrid instruction. Students will be placed in small groups of 8 to 10 children led by an Academic Learning Coach. Each student will have an assigned work space where they can maintain social distance from their peers.
Parents must submit their child’s daily schedule, teacher contacts and login information before they can start the program. Any changes should be communicated before the start of the day by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Each student should bring their own laptop or device fully charged with headphones and charger each day. Each student should also bring a planner so that their learning coach can communicate with their parents, and school teachers. A light breakfast will be provided in the morning from 7:45 to 8am. Half-day students should pack a healthy snack and full-day students should bring a lunch and 2 healthy snacks each day.
The program is designed to be flexible in order to meet the needs of each students’ individual schedule. Academic Learning Coaches will assist students in logging on for morning check-in, class meetings and lessons. They will help students complete their daily assignments, stay organized and on task. Enrichment activities will be set up in the classroom for students to use when they are on break or finished their schoolwork. Children in the full-day option will have physical education and other group activities added to their daily schedule.

STEM + ART + MORE = STEAM
At The Explorer Club, STEAM represents the combination of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math and more. The inclusion of adding Art to the STEM core subjects is essential to encouraging your students’ creative and critical thinking skills.
STEAM activities support curiosity, creativity, innovative thinking and help prepare students for an unknown future.
Scientists, mathematicians, engineers, and leaders all need to develop creative thinking, critical thinking and problems solving skills to be successful in creating new and unique solutions related to their field or industry.
No matter what unknown technologies, industries or careers lay ahead, creative thinkers and problem solvers will be the future innovators, leaders and face it “job getters”.
Our programs teaches your students how to think creatively and how to solve problems. This is how we prepare your children for an unknown future.
SAVE TIME & MONEY:
Encouraging creativity using STEAM activities does not require a lot of time, prep, or fancy materials. We use common household items to stretch and grow your students’ natural curiosity.
Before and After Care
The Explorer Club fosters connections between home, school and community. The curriculum emphasizes the integration of thought and experience. We utilize the center learning system which focuses on themes and projects that are fun and relate to life. Each program has been designed to meet the needs of the unique and varied developmental levels and ages of the child.
Explorer Club offers parents the option to register their children for "Fun Days." Fun Days are scheduled days when your child either (1) does not report to South Arbor, East Arbor, Ann Arbor Early Learning Community or Milan all day or (2) has a half day. These days consist of activities in the arts, sciences, sports, games, field trips, and more. See rates page for 1/2 day, full day, and full week Fun Day Rates. The hours for full fun days are 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and for half days Explorer Club will transport the children from South Arbor, East Arbor and Ann Arbor Learning Community to the center once they are released. Children will need to have a packed lunch for home, but breakfast and afternoon snack is provided.
Emergency Snow Care
The emergency snow care program offered if South Arbor, East Arbor, Ann Arbor Learning Community or Milan closes due to inclement weather or power outage. The center does have the right to close due to extreme weather and we will notify parents of closures via school cast text, call, and email. Our emergency snow care program is limited to only 18 spaces. Parents are allowed to purchase up to 10 snow days ahead of time, but purchased spaces are applied in the order of the snow days/emergency closures your child's school experiences; you may not select specific days. Families are refunded any excess days that are not used. The program will run from 7:30a.m. until 6:00p.m. and breakfast and afternoon snack are included. A packed lunch from home must be provided.
